Starting a Ripplty Community

How to Guide for setting yourself up as a group or a community of pioneers on a timeless quest for the true, the good and beautiful.

1. Form Your Group or Community

Find at Least Two Other People with a Shared Urge

Look for people who resonate with Ripplty’s mission. You’ll recognise them when you meet them — those who share your vision for creativity, connection, and meaning.

Don’t Make it Too Big of a Group

Try to keep your group or community small. Smaller groups allow information to flow freely and help avoid unnecessary administrative tasks.

Start a Conversation in a Safe Space

Meet somewhere you can speak freely and openly, whether it’s in person or virtually. Create a space that allows for deep, honest conversations.

Set Up a Way to Share Messages

Create a communication channel (WhatsApp, Signal, Slack, etc.) to facilitate ongoing dialogue, ensuring ideas and insights can flow easily.

Share and Create Together

Share things that have inspired you or that you’ve created yourself. Encourage open exploration of new ideas, projects, and insights that align with Ripplty’s vision.

Create an Initiation Ritual

Mark the start of your community with a meaningful initiation ritual. This ritual could be symbolic of your shared journey, reflecting the spirit and intentions of the group. It can take the form of a ceremony, a creative act, or something that helps bond the group in a significant way.

2. Ground Your Community

Use the Ripplty Values & Principles

Commit to the Ripplty Values & Principles, which will guide your group’s actions and ensure long-term sustainability. These will be your foundation for growth and creativity.

Get Regular Meetups in Your Calendars

Consistency is key. Schedule regular meetups to keep the momentum going and create a rhythm for your community’s activities.

Hold Open Dialogues

Engage in conversations that challenge and expand your thinking. Share thoughts, explore different perspectives, and collaborate on creative ideas. Always keep the dialogue flowing.

Challenge and Support Each Other

Help each other overcome fears or obstacles that may be limiting creativity or personal growth. Use the balance of challenge and support to foster deeper exploration.

Explore the Urges that Moved You

Understand what drives each member of your group. Reflect on what brought you together and how you can channel these motivations into shaping the group’s identity and direction.

3. Embark on Creative Actions

Do Full-Day Working Sessions Together

Set aside a regular full day to work on a project that excites all of you. This immersive session will help generate momentum and deepen your collective creativity.

Plan Seasonal Retreat to Define Intentions

Organise a retreat to step back, reflect, and define your community’s long-term intentions. This can be a transformative experience that sets a clear course for the future.

Create a Space for Experimentation and Creativity

Dedicate regular time and space for experimenting with new ideas, trying out projects, and pushing the boundaries of your collective creativity.

Support Personal Mini-Projects

Encourage members to pursue personal creative projects. Offer support and feedback, and celebrate each other’s progress and breakthroughs.

Collaborate on a Group Creative Project

Work together to create something beautiful — a piece of art, a collaborative project, or an experience that embodies Ripplty’s values of creativity, connection, and beauty.

4. Sustain Your Own Growth

Sustain the Group with a Charitable Mindset

Keep your community non-commercial, focusing on creativity, beauty, and meaning. The best things in life are free, and your group should reflect this philosophy.

Challenge Each Other to Grow

Push each other beyond comfort zones, encouraging personal and collective growth. This is how you’ll expand your perspectives and deepen your connections.

Document Your Learnings

Write up the insights and lessons your group gains along the way. This will serve as a valuable resource for others and help you track your own growth.

Continue Sharing What is Interesting and Novel

Keep the group dynamic by regularly sharing new ideas, inspirations, and discoveries. This constant exchange will ensure your community stays fresh and creative.

5. Connect With the World*

Join the Global Ripplty Network

As your group grows, consider joining Ripplty’s global network. This will allow you to exchange ideas with other groups, participate in global projects, and contribute to the larger movement.

Meet Other Groups and Share Ideas

Connect with other Ripplty groups or communities, either locally or globally. Share your experiences, collaborate on joint projects, and learn from each other.
